PROPERTY LAW PRIMER ON "RIGHTS OF SURVIVORSHIP"

In the legal context, a few words can make a huge difference. If you own property with someone other than your spouse, it is important to know whether your heirs at law or the remaining tenants will take should you pass away. In Tennessee, the default is that property will pass to your heirs 𝒖𝒏𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 the conveying document explicitly states "with rights of survivorship." This legal term of art means that ownership rights pass to the remaining tenants.
